Raiding Rules and Officer Expectations

Raiding Rules:

The purpose of the following rules below is designed to provide clarity and understanding on what is expected from each and every initiate, adventurer, and raider during an official or impromoptu raid. These rules below are subject to change as the guild master, officers or guild members see fit.

Required Software:

If you need help installing any of these addons, please ask either on the forums or in guild chat.

1. To have Ventrilo installed, running, and joined to the proper channel for the raid. Most of the raid briefings are done over Vent, so being able to hear is required. (The microphone is encouraged but optional.) Get the Ventrilo client for your system here:

http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

Instructions on server address and password can be found in-game on the guild information tab.

2. To have the oRA2 mod, and placed in the following location: \\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\AddOns. It is expected for each Dusk Raider member to update this module to the latest version whenever a new version comes out.

oRA2 is available from http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/default.aspx

3. To have Omen, a threatmeter, installed in the following location: \\World of Warcraft\\Interface\\AddOns. It is expected for each Dusk Raider to update this module to the latest version whenever a new version comes out.

Omen (Ace2): http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/default.aspx

4. Deadly Boss Mods, an addon that gives raid warnings and other useful information during boss fights. Bigwigs is not acceptable.

DeadlyBossMods is available at http://www.deadlybossmods.com/ or http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/default.aspx

5. Update your addons often via Wowmatrix.

6. Recount. Damage meters are useful for individuals to measure and improve their performance. They don't measure everything though, such as "usefulness to the raid" "takes direction well" "follows RL, role leader, or class leader instructions".
For this reason NEVER EVER LINK YOUR DAMAGE METER TO GUILD, RAID, OR PARTY CHAT, NO MATTER WHO REQUESTS IT. Dusk Raiders does not support arrogance, bragging, or putting guild members down.

Before and During the Raid Rules:

1. To be successful in raiding every raid member must be familiar with raid strategy and have knowledge of boss encounters before the raid not during or after. It is required before each raid event appropriate strategies have been read and studied. Some people call it homework others call it "if you want the boss down, it is something you just have to do."

2. To commit as much time as you can to see the raid through from start to finish. We understand that real life emergencies may come up during the raid, and that these emergencies would not count negatively against you. Abuse of the real life emergency exception will be dealt with accordingly.

3. To either say in Vent, or Type in Raid chat when you need to go "AFK" (Away From Keyboard) so the raid is aware and can plan accordingly. Unless announced by the Raid Leader, going "AFK" many times during a raid will count negatively against you and be dealt with accordingly.

4. To keep Vent chatter clear during a Boss fight so the Raid Leader or Key Players in a fight can provide verbal updates. Only essential communications are desired. We don't need to be distracted by individual opinions or discussions during critical fights. Some new members are surprised and impressed by this behavior and fit in quickly. Other new members find this is restrictive and inhibits their right to free speech and expression and are encouraged to find another guild sooner rather than later. This is who we are, and this is how we like it. You can easily find another guild where anything goes. This guild is the refuge for the people who want to concentrate on their play during progression boss fights.

5. To be aware "Before the Raid" what your earned DKP total is for bidding on items dropped during the raid. Exception to this would be a verbal notification that DKP has been updated during a raid.

6. To follow all instructions given by the Raid Leader, Class Officer.

7. To come to a raid "Ready to Go". This means: (1) No damaged Gear, (2) Not PvP Flagged, (3) You are in the proper Vent Channel, (4) All software mentioned above is active and ready for the raid, and (5) You are stocked up on reagents "as best you can" so it will not disrupt the raid.

8. To act and behave in a professional or friendly manner so it will not ruin the game playing experience for anyone else. This means that all people in Dusk Raiders (initiate or member) will adhere to this rule as well as the "Code of Conduct". Failure to follow this rule as well as the "Code of Conduct" will result in disciplinary action.

Officer Expectations:

The purpose of the following expectations below are designed to provide guidance for new and current officers of "Dusk Raiders". These expectations below are subject to change as the Guild officers see fit.

Class Officer Expectations:

1. To greet and know all of the members in your class and say hello to them when you can to let them know they feel welcomed.

2. To know the Tier set armor, special quest items, and weapons they have and use.

3. Observe and evaluate their class members on performance and progress in their role.

4. To learn and execute the process of accepting members in your class to "Dusk Raiders" raids through the guild's website.

5. To keep track of each member in your class as you accept them to raids. The purpose of this is to rotate in and out "in a fair way" all members of your class so earned DKP can be had by all.

6. To use the Forums section of the guild's website to: (1) Know and review potential applicants for your class, (2) Educate members of your class on "What gear to look for" or "How to best play your class", and (3) General communication.

7. To "Lead by Example" while holding the position as Class Officer, this means: (1) No criticizing the members of "Dusk Raiders" in Guild Chat, Vent, or Raid Chat. If you need to correct a member of your class, you will do it through Whisper only. (2) Show that you work well with other officers in cooperation to ensure a smooth raid or support of ideas while in "World of Warcraft" (3) Cursing in Guild Chat, Vent, or Raid Chat is highly discouraged. It is understood that cursing may occur out of frustration, but abuse of this will cause disciplinary action. (4) Promote fairness and understanding within your class so everyone can continue to "Enjoy the Game".

Raid Leader Expectations:

1. Ensures that the raid invites go out in a timely manner either himself or by a designated officer. Sets up raid groupings for maximum benefit of class groupings.

2. Maintains the guild raid schedule on a monthly basis.

3. Approves all raid positions at least three days before each raid event. Said raid positons approvals will be made with the input of class officers and guild master.

4. Sets the positive tone for each raid and determines speed of pulls and necessary food and water stops.

5. Has knowledge of each boss encounter and is able to clearly provide directions to raid attendees as to what what they must do and expectations.

6. Provide information to the guild as to the order of boss kills and raid progression.

7. Keeps officers informed as to raiding recruitment needs.

Selecting your main, changing your main, and/or changing your main spec

When joining the guild you presumably join on your main character. Your account uses your main's name as your login. When you begin raiding, you sign up and attend raids on your main. Be aware that when you choose what character to make your main, you are committing vast amounts of time and energy to developing your main to it's full potential. The guild is also going to spend a lot of time and effort to helping you develop your main in order to progress as quickly as possible through new content. Keep in mind that we are a progression guild and need people of sufficient skill playing characters with top gear in order to meet our progression goals. If you are looking for a guild to help you gear up multiple characters you are in the wrong guild.

A member may change their main. This should be after careful deliberation because changing your main affects the guild's raid progression. The guild has spent a lot of effort to gear people up. The guild has made recruiting decisions and commitments based on the number of people in each class and the relative gear level of each person. If you desire to change your main you must request a meeting with the officers to discuss the change. The following MINIMUM conditions will occur:

1. You will lose your Raider rank. You will start over as an Adventurer. This will affect your signups and approval for raids as well as loot priority.

2. Your dkp will not be reset. Dkp is earned per account. You will continue with the dkp that you have at the moment of the switch.

3. You may ask to be considered for Raider status at any time. But as with all adventurers, there is no guarantee that you will be promoted to Raider. Remember, when you changed your main, you gave up your raid spot. There is no way for us to predict when we might have a raid spot available for your new main. If your new main is a healer, then it is more likely that a spot will open up. If your new main is dps, there is less likelihood that a spot will be available. Keep in mind that there is a waiting list of people who have respecced to help the raid, and our first priority is to accomodate these people in returning to the spec or class that they originally wanted to play. This seems to occur most frequently with people who are asked to switch from dps to healing on their main in order for the raid to progress.

4. With dual spec, the same rules apply. For those classes that can fill multiple roles such as tanking, healing, and/or dps, it must be clear which is your main role and thus, your main spec. Just because it is easy to respec and it can now occur during a raid, doesn't mean that you automatically get priority in rolling on any item you want. Priority is always given to a main spec over an off spec.

5. Keep in mind that when you change your main, your former main is now an alt. Alts do not receive loot in our 25 man raids unless all mains have passed on it.
